There are
sixteen hotels within walking distance
of the
University at a variety of price points. Parking on
campus is difficult, but renting a car should not be
necessary. The venue (Featheringill Hall) for the collaboration meeting
is in the middle of campus. The closer a hotel is to
campus the closer it is to Featheringill, and there are
a variety of hotels right on the campus edge.
Vanderbilt is located in the heart of Nashville and is within easy
walking distance of several good restaurants, brew-pubs,
and entertainment.
To get from the airport to
campus and surrounding
hotels you can take the
Airport Express operated
by Gray Line or take a taxi. The cost of a taxi is estimated to be $25 each way.
There is a
good Vanderbilt website showing a map
of hotels within walking distance
of campus.
Links are given which give information on “Vanderbilt
rates” which you should request when making a reservation.
One nice option listed is the
Scarritt-Bennett center, an
old converted seminary with gothic architecture and beautifully
landscaped grounds. It is very close to campus and
offers “nice dorm-style rooms” at $50/night. These are
single rooms, each of which shares a full bath with one
adjoining room.
There are two relatively distant hotels that offer rates
of $69/night, rates for the rest of the hotels vary
between $109 to $179.
